Source hierarchy

Official manufacturer documentation is the primary factual basis for the current library. Source selection is prioritized in this order:

1. Official documentation for the exact model when it is available and applicable.
2. Official manufacturer support material that clearly covers the relevant appliance type or product group.
3. A narrower statement—or no published instruction—when the available material does not support more detail.

Each guide links to the official material reviewed. A source link identifies the factual basis; it does not imply that the manufacturer endorses this site.

Detected conditions are not diagnoses

Guides separate the condition the appliance reports from possible causes that official material identifies. A displayed code does not guarantee that a particular component has failed, and the site does not present it as proof of a component-level diagnosis.

Model and applicability checks

Every guide states the appliance category and product subtype it covers and reminds readers to verify the model number. When official instructions depend on a model, control layout, installation, or feature, the exact owner documentation takes priority over a general guide.

Homeowner checks and service boundaries

Safe preliminary checks are kept separate from actions that are unsupported, unsafe, or more appropriate for qualified service. Guides avoid encouraging panel removal, lock bypasses, live-electrical access, moving-parts exposure, or unverified diagnostic procedures.

Shutoff, unplugging, leak, and service boundaries are included when they are relevant to the documented condition and instructions. A reader should stop whenever a step cannot be completed safely or is not supported for the exact model.

Review dates and source visibility

Published guides show their official source links and the date Appliance Help HQ last reviewed those sources for the guide. A review date records that comparison; it is not a guarantee that the source or appliance documentation will never change.

Corrections and updates

When a source changes, a factual problem is identified, or applicability is uncertain, the goal is to correct the guide, narrow its language, add a clearer limitation, or remove unsupported material. Expansion is paced by available documentation rather than by a promise to cover every code.
