Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record E4 and the exact model

    • Photograph the code and note the complete model number.
    • Confirm the code definition in the exact model owner guide if available.

  2. Use only owner-documented sensor cleaning

    • If the owner guide identifies accessible moisture-sensor bars, clean only those exposed surfaces exactly as the manufacturer permits.
    • Disconnect power first if the model instructions require it, and do not remove panels or wiring.

  3. Use manual cycles only if the dryer is otherwise safe

    • Electrolux states that manual cycles can still be used while this condition is present.
    • Stop using the dryer for overheating, burning odor, smoke, sparks, or another safety symptom.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove the drum, cabinet, sensor harness, or control board to chase E4.
  • Do not replace the humidity sensor solely from the code without model-specific diagnosis.
  • Do not ignore overheating or scorched-lint symptoms just because Electrolux permits manual cycles.

  • E4 continues or returns after any owner-documented external cleaning.
  • Automatic drying no longer works reliably and the code persists.
