Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm power has returned normally

    • Record PF or Power Failure before clearing it.
    • Check whether other household devices or clocks also show signs of a recent outage without opening electrical panels or outlets.

  2. Acknowledge the power-failure alert

    • Use Alarm Reset, CLEAR ALERTS, or the exact control specified for the model.
    • Do not repeatedly cycle the refrigerator breaker just to clear a message.

  3. Watch cabinet temperature after a longer outage

    • Keep the doors closed as much as practical while the appliance recovers.
    • If H, HI, or High Temp also appears, follow the separate high-temperature guidance and use safe food-storage judgment rather than relying on the display alone.

  • Do not open receptacles, junction boxes, terminal areas, or appliance panels to investigate PF.
  • Do not assume PF means the refrigerator control board failed.

  • The refrigerator does not resume normal cooling after stable power is restored.
