Electrolux Washer E21 Error Code

Electrolux says E21 means the washer is not pumping water out fast enough. The manufacturer points owners first to a kinked or restricted drain hose and correct drain-hose installation.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record E21 and the model

    • Photograph the code and note the complete model number.
    • Use the exact installation guide for the drain-hose routing and height requirements.

  2. Inspect the visible drain hose

    • With the washer stopped, look for obvious kinks, crushing, or bends that restrict the hose.
    • Do not remove panels or reach into the pump area.

  3. Compare the installation with the manual

    • Confirm the drain hose is routed and secured as the model instructions require.
    • If moving the appliance would be unsafe or the hose cannot be reached externally, stop and use an installer or service provider.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not open the pump, remove internal hoses, or reach into the washer cabinet to chase E21.
  • Do not bypass the door lock or run repeated cycles with standing water simply to see whether the code returns.
  • Do not treat E21 as proof that the drain pump has failed.
