Frigidaire Room air conditioner AS Error Code

AS is a sensor-circuit indication, not a reason to open the cabinet. Record the code, unplug the unit for up to 30 seconds as Frigidaire directs, restore power, and request service if AS returns.

The control is not receiving the expected room-temperature thermistor signal.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • A temporary control or sensor communication state may clear after one power reset.
  • The room-temperature thermistor, its wiring, connection, or control circuit may need model-specific diagnosis.
  • Cabinet temperature or cooling performance cannot be diagnosed from AS alone.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code and exterior conditions

    • Photograph or note AS before resetting the unit and note whether the unit was cooling, starting, or recently moved.
    • Make sure curtains, furniture, or covers are not blocking the front or rear airflow openings.

  2. Use Frigidaire’s single power reset

    • Turn the unit off and unplug it from the power source for up to 30 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and operate it normally. If AS returns, stop repeated resets and arrange service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove the cabinet to locate or test the thermistor.
  • Do not jumper a sensor, probe live wiring, or replace a control based only on AS.
  • Do not bypass or modify the safety plug or grounding connection.

  • AS returns after the documented reset.
  • Cooling becomes unreliable or the display shows implausible temperature behavior.
  • Diagnosis would require internal sensor, wiring, connector, or control access.
