The air-conditioner control detected a communication problem within the system.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • A temporary control communication state may clear after a reset.
  • An internal connection, harness, module, sensor network, or control may require model-specific diagnosis.
  • A power interruption or unstable supply can sometimes coincide with control communication faults, but EC alone does not identify the source.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Check the exterior power connection

    • Make sure the plug is fully seated in a grounded outlet and inspect the cord and plug from the outside for damage, heat, discoloration, or melting.
    • If the leakage-detection plug test/reset function fails its documented test, do not use the air conditioner.

  2. Use one Frigidaire reset

    • Unplug the unit for up to 30 seconds, reconnect it, and try normal operation once.
    • If EC returns, stop repeated resets and arrange qualified service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not open the cabinet to reseat internal communication cables.
  • Do not bypass the leakage-detection plug, grounding pin, or electrical safety devices.
  • Do not replace a control board solely because EC appears.

When to stop and request service

  • EC returns after one documented reset.
  • The cord or plug is damaged, overheated, or fails the manufacturer’s safety-plug test.
  • The unit loses control, will not operate normally, or internal communication diagnosis is required.
