Detected condition

The control is not receiving the expected signal from the air-discharge thermistor circuit.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • A temporary electronic state may clear after one power reset.
  • The discharge thermistor, wiring, connector, or control circuit may need diagnosis.
  • Restricted airflow can affect temperatures, but HS by itself does not prove an airflow blockage.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Inspect exterior airflow only

    • Turn the unit off and make sure curtains, furniture, dust mats, or covers are not blocking the visible intake or discharge openings.
    • If the reusable filter is dirty, unplug the unit and clean it according to Frigidaire’s instructions before reinstalling it dry.

  2. Reset once

    • Unplug the unit for up to 30 seconds and restore power.
    • If HS returns, stop there and schedule service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove panels to reach the discharge thermistor.
  • Do not meter sensor resistance or live voltage inside the air conditioner.
  • Do not replace a sensor or control solely because HS appears.

When to stop and request service

  • HS returns after one documented reset.
  • The unit overheats, repeatedly shuts down, or cooling is abnormal despite clear external airflow.
  • Internal thermistor, harness, connector, or control diagnosis is required.
