What may contribute

Possible causes

  • A temporary console/control state may clear after a power cycle.
  • Moisture or residue on the exterior control surface may affect button use, but the code can also reflect an internal console or control fault.
  • An internal keypad, user-interface, harness, or main-control issue may require service.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Inspect the control surface from the outside

    • Make sure no object is continuously pressing a key and that the exterior panel is dry.
    • If cleaning is needed, follow the model manual and do not spray liquid directly into seams or buttons.

  2. Power cycle once

    • Disconnect dishwasher power for 30 seconds after the exterior control area is dry.
    • Restore power and monitor the controls. If F2 E1 returns, request service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not pry, force, or dismantle keys or the console.
  • Do not spray cleaner or water into control-panel seams.
  • Do not open the console, probe wiring, or replace a control based only on F2 E1.

When to stop and request service

  • F2 E1 returns after one documented power cycle.
  • Keys remain stuck, unresponsive, erratic, damaged, or wet internally.
