JennAir Dishwasher F8 E1 / H2O Error Code

Check the external water supply first: the shutoff valve should be open and the visible supply hose should not be kinked. Once the supply issue is corrected, JennAir directs restarting or resuming the cycle.

Applies to JennAir dishwasher with F-E error-code display or flashing status light

What the appliance detected

Detected condition

The dishwasher is not detecting the expected incoming water during fill.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • The dishwasher water-supply valve may be closed or only partly open.
  • The accessible supply hose may be kinked or pinched.
  • An internal inlet valve, flow path, sensor, control, or wiring issue may require service if supply conditions are normal.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm the water supply is on

    • Locate the normal dishwasher shutoff valve and make sure it is fully open if it can be reached without moving the appliance or disturbing plumbing.
    • Stop for a leaking valve, damaged connection, or any sign that plumbing work is required.
  2. Inspect the visible supply hose

    • Check the accessible portion of the water-supply hose for kinks or pinching.
    • Do not pull the dishwasher from the cabinet or loosen pressurized connections merely to inspect hidden hose sections.
  3. Resume once after the supply is corrected

    • After restoring a normal external water supply, press Start or use the model-documented resume action.
    • If F8 E1 or H2O returns, request service rather than opening the inlet-valve or control area.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not loosen pressurized water fittings while the supply is on.
  • Do not remove the inlet valve, access internal sensors, or test live electrical parts.
  • Do not assume H2O proves the inlet valve itself is defective.

When to stop and request service

  • The code returns with the external supply fully open and the visible hose clear.
  • There is a leak, damaged shutoff valve, inaccessible plumbing, or evidence of freezing.
  • Internal fill-valve, sensor, harness, or control diagnosis is required.
