JennAir Dishwasher F8 E5 Error Code

F8 E5 is a water-control warning. Turn off the dishwasher water supply if possible, press Cancel once to silence the alarm, close the door, and preserve power for the protective drain sequence unless the water cannot be stopped or another safety hazard requires power removal.

Possible causes

  • The inlet valve may be allowing water to enter when the control does not expect it.
  • A control, wiring, sensing, or valve condition may require service.
  • The code itself does not establish whether the valve or another part is the root cause.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Shut off incoming water if it is safe to do so

    • Close the normal dishwasher water-supply valve if it is accessible without moving the appliance or disturbing plumbing.
    • If water is escaping outside the dishwasher, protect the floor and keep clear of wet electrical areas.

  2. Let the dishwasher use its protective response

    • JennAir directs pressing Cancel once to silence the alarm and then closing the door.
    • Do not turn off power while the water supply is successfully shut off because the dishwasher may need power to drain.

  3. Remove power only when the water supply cannot be stopped or another hazard exists

    • If you cannot turn off incoming water, JennAir directs turning off power to the dishwasher.
    • Also remove power for smoke, sparks, burning odor, repeated breaker trips, or water reaching electrical components, then arrange service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not keep running cycles with F8 E5 present.
  • Do not open the inlet-valve or control area, bypass the valve, or test live wiring.
  • Do not repeatedly clear the code without addressing the water-control condition.

When to stop and request service

  • F8 E5 appears at all, because JennAir directs service if the condition cannot be safely resolved.
  • Water continues entering after the supply should be closed or any external connection is leaking.
  • The next step requires inlet-valve, wiring, control, or sensing diagnosis.
