KitchenAid Dishwasher H2O Error Code

KitchenAid lists H2O as a not-detecting-water condition and directs owners to verify that the dishwasher water supply is turned on and that the visible supply hose is not kinked before pressing Start to retry.

Possible causes

  • The dishwasher water supply may be turned off or not fully open.
  • The visible supply hose may be kinked or pinched.
  • A persistent fill-valve, pressure, sensing, wiring, or control issue may require service.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm the code and water supply

    • Photograph H2O and record the full model number.
    • Confirm the dishwasher shutoff valve is in its normal open position and there is no visible leaking.

  2. Check the visible supply hose

    • Inspect the hose only where it is safely visible and make sure it is not sharply kinked or pinched.
    • Do not pull the dishwasher out or disturb electrical and plumbing connections unless the installation instructions say that is safe for the owner.

  3. Retry once after correcting the supply

    • When the visible supply problem is corrected, press Start as KitchenAid documents so the dishwasher can attempt to fill and resume.
    • If H2O returns, stop repeating the cycle and request service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not open the inlet valve, pressure-sensing system, wiring, or control area.
  • Do not continue operating if a water connection is leaking.
  • Do not assume H2O proves that the inlet valve has failed.

When to stop and request service

  • H2O remains after the water supply is open and visible hose kinks are ruled out.
  • There is leaking, water damage, or no safe access to the shutoff or hose.
  • Internal valve, pressure, sensing, wiring, or control diagnosis is needed.
