What the appliance detected
Detected condition
The cooking appliance detected a power failure.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- A household power failure or interruption affected the appliance.
- A brief supply interruption may have reset the control.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Confirm the event
- Record the exact PF message and model number.
- Check whether the home recently lost power or the appliance breaker was switched off.
Clear the display normally
- Press Cancel as KitchenAid documents.
- If the clock needs attention, follow the exact owner manual rather than guessing button combinations.
Escalate unexplained repeats
- If PF returns without a known outage, or the breaker trips, stop repeated resets and request qualified help.
- Do not continue using the appliance if power appears unstable.
Actions not recommended
- Do not open panels or household wiring to investigate a PF message.
- Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.
- Do not assume PF proves the control board has failed.
When to stop and request service
- PF returns without a known power event.
- The breaker trips, power is unstable, or the appliance will not resume normal operation.
- Any smoke, sparking, burning odor, gas odor, or uncontrolled heating is present.
