Amana Microwave E24 Error Code

E24 is an abnormal-temperature condition, not a routine nuisance code. Stop cooking, disconnect power, allow the microwave to cool naturally, and only consider one documented reset after it is cool and there are no signs of smoke, arcing, burning, melting, or other damage.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the display and confirm the model

    • Photograph or write down the exact display before changing anything: E24.
    • Confirm the complete Amana model number and compare the display with the owner documentation for that exact microwave because code sets vary by platform.

  2. Stop use and let the microwave cool naturally

    • Stop the cooking cycle and disconnect power. Do not continue test-heating food while E24 is present.
    • Allow the microwave to cool naturally. Do not use water, compressed air, ice, or cabinet removal to force cooling.
    • If there is smoke, a burning odor, repeated arcing, melting, visible heat damage, or a tripped breaker that will not stay reset, leave power off and arrange service.

  3. Try one Amana power reset

    • If there is no smoke, burning odor, repeated arcing, visible door damage, active water intrusion, severe overheating, or repeated breaker trip, switch the microwave circuit breaker off for one full minute.
    • Restore power once, monitor the display for at least one minute, and verify normal operation without opening the cabinet.
    • If the display returns, stop using the microwave and request qualified service rather than repeating resets.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove the outer cabinet, control panel, vent housing, waveguide cover, or any service panel to chase a display code.
  • Do not touch or test the high-voltage capacitor, transformer, inverter, magnetron, internal fuse, interlock wiring, control boards, sensors, thermistors, relays, or internal harnesses.
  • Do not bypass, tape, bridge, defeat, or adjust the door-interlock system, and do not operate the microwave with a damaged or misaligned door.
  • Do not perform live-voltage, continuity, resistance, capacitor-discharge, or internal connector tests as an owner troubleshooting step.
  • Do not replace a keypad, sensor, thermistor, control board, relay board, switch, or other internal part from a display code alone.

When to stop and request service

  • Request qualified microwave service if E24 returns after the appliance has cooled and the single Amana one-minute power reset.
  • Leave power disconnected and arrange service immediately for smoke, a burning odor, repeated arcing, melting, visible heat damage, a repeated breaker trip, or water near electrical parts.
