LG Dryer F0 / Insert Filter Error Code

LG directs the owner to remove and correctly reinsert the lint filter. If the message remains with the correct filter fully seated, service may be required; the code alone does not prove that a sensor has failed.

Detected condition

The dryer is not detecting the lint filter in its expected position.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • The removable lint filter is missing.
  • The lint filter is not fully seated in its housing.
  • The filter, holder, or detection mechanism may be damaged or not being detected correctly.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the message and exact model

    • Photograph F0 or the Insert Filter message before changing anything.
    • Confirm the full model number and use the model manual to identify the correct lint-filter position.

  2. Wait for the dryer to stop and cool

    • Turn the dryer off and wait for the drum to stop completely before reaching into the door opening.
    • Stop immediately for smoke, a burning odor, sparking, scorching, unusual heat, or visible damage.

  3. Remove and reinsert the lint filter

    • Remove the lint filter using the normal owner-accessible handle, clear loose lint, and inspect it for obvious damage.
    • Reinsert the correct filter fully into its housing without forcing it, then try one supported cycle.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not bypass a filter-detection switch or sensor.
  • Do not operate the dryer without its required lint filter.
  • Do not remove panels or disassemble the filter housing to chase the code.

When to stop and request service

  • F0 or Insert Filter remains with the correct filter fully seated.
  • The filter or holder is cracked, warped, loose, or will not seat normally.
  • Any sensor, switch, wiring, or internal housing diagnosis would be required.
