LG Dryer tE2 Error Code

LG treats tE2 differently from a generic thermistor error because cold conditions and venting can contribute. Start with the lint filter and safely accessible exterior venting, then use only the model-supported reset or warm-up guidance.

The dryer detected a temperature-sensing condition that LG notes can be associated with cold operating conditions or cold air entering through the exhaust path.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • Cold outdoor air entering through an exhaust flap that does not close properly.
  • Snow, frost, lint, or debris restricting the safely accessible exterior vent outlet.
  • A dirty lint filter or restricted exhaust path.
  • A thermistor, wiring, connector, or control condition if the code persists.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code, model, and conditions

    • Photograph tE2 and note whether it occurred during a steam cycle or unusually cold weather.
    • Confirm the full model number before using any steam-cycle controls named in LG documentation.

  2. Clean the removable lint filter

    • With the dryer off and cool, remove lint from the filter and clean it only as the model manual allows.
    • Let a washed filter dry completely before reinstalling it.

  3. Inspect only safely accessible exterior venting

    • Check the visible transition duct for crushing or kinks and, from ground level or another safe location, check whether the exterior flap is blocked by lint, frost, snow, or debris.
    • Do not climb, open walls, reach into hidden ductwork, or operate the dryer with a suspected serious blockage.

  4. Use only model-supported warm-up or reset steps

    • If LG documentation for the exact model provides a warm-up or steam-cycle procedure, follow it exactly.
    • If tE2 returns after the supported checks, stop and request service rather than repeating resets.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not heat an exhaust duct with an open flame, torch, space heater, or other improvised method.
  • Do not climb to a roof vent or reach into hidden ductwork.
  • Do not open dryer panels or test thermistors, wiring, or live voltage.

When to stop and request service

  • tE2 persists after the filter and safely accessible vent checks.
  • The exhaust path cannot be safely inspected or a restriction is suspected deeper in the home duct.
  • The dryer overheats, fails to heat normally, or any sensor, wiring, or internal diagnosis is needed.
