Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record F42 and the installation context

    • Photograph the code and record whether the range was recently installed, moved, serviced, or affected by an outage.
    • Confirm the model number and rating information without removing covers or touching wiring.

  2. Stop for electrical hazards

    • Stop using the range for sparking, burning odor, scorching, a hot or damaged cord or connection, repeated breaker trips, or visible electrical damage.
    • Do not touch damaged wiring or connections; switch the circuit off from a safe location and contact a licensed electrician.

  3. Reset once, then escalate

    • LG directs owners to switch the range circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore power.
    • If F42 returns, have the supply and installation evaluated by a licensed electrician; if the supply is correct, request appliance service.

  • Do not measure live voltage at the outlet, junction box, terminal block, or inside the range.
