LG Range F51 / F52 Error Code

F51/F52 point to the griddle temperature-sensing system, but the display does not prove that a particular sensor, wire, connector, or control must be replaced. Preserve the exact code, let the cooking surface cool, and use LG’s documented 30-second breaker reset once.

  • A temporary electronic or sensing condition.
  • A griddle temperature-sensor signal that the control cannot read normally.
  • An internal sensor, connector, wiring, or electronic-control issue that needs qualified diagnosis if the code returns.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the exact code and model

    • Photograph whether the display shows F51 or F52 and record the full model number.
    • Note whether the griddle feature was in use and whether the code followed a spill, cleaning, or unusual heating event.

  2. Let the griddle area cool and inspect only the exterior

    • Turn the cooking function off and allow the griddle and surrounding cooktop to cool completely before touching or cleaning them.
    • Check only the accessible surface for residue, standing liquid, scorching, or visible damage. Use the exact model manual for approved cleaning and accessory handling.
    • Do not lift the cooktop, remove trim, or try to reach the griddle sensor.

  3. Use LG’s reset once

    • Turn the range circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore power once, as LG directs for F51 and F52.
    • If the same code returns, stop resetting the appliance and request service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove the griddle, cooktop, control panel, rear panel, or wiring covers unless the owner manual explicitly identifies an item as a user-removable accessory.
  • Do not measure sensor resistance, continuity, or live voltage, and do not probe connectors or boards.
  • Do not bypass a sensor or replace a sensor or control board solely because F51 or F52 is displayed.

When to stop and request service

  • Request appliance service if F51 or F52 returns after one documented 30-second reset.
  • Stop using the cooking appliance immediately for smoke, sparking, burning odor, scorching, cracked cooking glass, repeated breaker trips, or abnormal heat outside the normal cooking area.
  • Provide the technician with the exact code, full model number, and whether the griddle was operating when the code appeared.
