LG Range F56 / F59 Error Code

F56/F59 mean the control detected a griddle-heating problem. They do not prove that the heating element, sensor, relay, wiring, or control board is the failed part. Record the code, cool the appliance, and use the manufacturer-supported reset once.

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Preserve the code and cooking context

    • Photograph whether F56 or F59 is displayed and record the full model number.
    • Note the griddle setting, whether any heat was produced, and whether the code appeared immediately or after the griddle had been heating.

  2. Cool the surface and check only normal setup

    • Turn the griddle function off and allow the surface to cool completely.
    • Confirm only user-facing controls and any removable griddle accessory described in the exact owner manual. Do not disassemble the cooking surface to look for a heater.
    • Stop if there is scorching, cracking, smoke, sparking, burning odor, or unusual heat outside the normal cooking zone.

  3. Reset once, then escalate

    • Turn the range circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore power once, as LG directs for F56 and F59.
    • If F56 or F59 returns, discontinue the griddle function and request service.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove cooktop panels, griddle heating components, rear covers, or control panels.
  • Do not test heating-element resistance, relay outputs, amperage, continuity, or live voltage as a homeowner step.
  • Do not replace a heater, sensor, relay, or control board based on F56/F59 alone.

  • Request appliance service if F56 or F59 returns after one documented reset.
