Source-backed error-code guide

LG Range F6 / F9 / F19 Error Code

These codes mean the control did not see expected heating performance. They do not identify an igniter, element, relay, gas component, or control board as the failed part, so homeowner steps stop at preserving the code and one manufacturer-supported reset.

Applies to LG range or oven

What the appliance detected

Detected condition

LG identifies F6 as an upper-oven heating error, F9 as the upper oven not heating properly, and F19 as an oven heating error.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • The oven did not reach or maintain the heating behavior expected by the control.
  • A temporary control or power condition that clears after a supported reset.
  • A heating, ignition, sensing, wiring, power, gas-supply, or control issue requiring model-specific professional diagnosis.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the exact heating code

    • Press CLEAR/OFF and photograph whether the display showed F6, F9, or F19.
    • Record the model number, cooking mode, set temperature, and whether the oven produced any heat before the code appeared.
  2. Stop for heat, gas, or electrical hazards

    • If you smell gas, leave the area and follow local gas-emergency guidance; do not operate switches or attempt gas-line work.
    • For smoke, sparking, scorching, burning odor, or uncontrolled heating, keep the appliance off and request qualified help.
  3. Try LG’s supported reset once

    • When no hazard is present and the appliance has cooled, retry the original function once as LG directs.
    • If the code reappears, turn the range circuit breaker off for 30 seconds, restore power once, and request service if the code returns.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not test or replace igniters, bake or broil elements, relays, gas valves, sensors, wiring, or control boards based on these codes alone.
  • Do not remove panels, work on gas connections, or perform live-voltage tests.
  • Do not repeatedly run an oven that fails to heat normally or shows signs of uncontrolled heating.

When to stop and request service

  • Request appliance service when F6, F9, or F19 returns after the documented reset.
  • Use qualified gas service for any gas-supply or gas-odor concern and a licensed electrician for confirmed supply problems.
  • Stop immediately for gas odor, smoke, sparking, scorching, burning odor, or uncontrolled heating.
