LG Range F8 / F18 Error Code

F8/F18 identify a meat-probe sensing problem but do not prove whether the removable probe, probe jack, wiring, or control is responsible. Record the code and use only model-approved probe handling and LG’s reset.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Let the oven and probe cool

    • Press CLEAR/OFF and let the oven and any connected probe cool before handling them.
    • Photograph F8 or F18 and record the exact model number.

  2. Use only model-approved probe handling

    • If the model manual includes a removable meat probe, inspect only the accessible probe and connector for obvious food residue, moisture, or physical damage after cooling.
    • Do not insert tools into the probe jack or use a probe that is bent, melted, cracked, or not approved for the model.

  3. Reset once, then stop

    • Retry the original function only according to the exact model manual.
    • If F8 or F18 reappears, turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds, restore power once, and request service if the code returns.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not probe the meat-probe jack with metal objects or electrical test leads.
  • Do not remove oven panels or test internal probe wiring, connectors, or control boards.
  • Do not replace the control board or other internal parts based on F8/F18 alone.

When to stop and request service

  • Request appliance service if F8/F18 returns with the correct model-approved probe and one supported reset.
  • Replace only an externally removable probe that the model manual identifies as user-replaceable and that is visibly damaged.
  • Stop immediately for smoke, sparking, burning odor, or visible heat damage.
