What the appliance detected
Detected condition
LG says PF means power has been interrupted to the appliance.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- A recent household outage, breaker trip, or other interruption of power.
- Power was disconnected during installation, cleaning, or service.
- A recurring household supply problem if PF returns without a known outage.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the message and power history
- Photograph PF and note whether the home recently lost power or the range circuit was intentionally switched off.
- Confirm the full model number so the correct owner manual and control layout can be used.
Clear PF once with the normal controls
- LG directs owners to press CLEAR/OFF and then retry the original function.
- If PF reappears, switch the range circuit breaker fully off for 30 seconds and restore power once.
Stop if the interruption is unexplained
- If PF returns without another known outage, stop repeated resets and note whether lights, outlets, or other appliances also show power problems.
- For sparking, scorching, burning odor, a hot outlet or cord, or repeated breaker trips, stop using the range and contact a licensed electrician.
Actions not recommended
- Do not open the range, outlet, junction box, electrical panel, or terminal connections to investigate PF.
- Do not test live voltage or repeatedly reset a breaker that continues to trip.
- Do not replace a control board or other part based on PF alone.
When to stop and request service
- Use a licensed electrician for repeated breaker trips, damaged electrical connections, or unexplained household power interruptions.
- Request appliance service if the electrical supply is confirmed correct but PF continues to return.
- Stop immediately for smoke, sparking, scorching, burning odor, unusual heat, or visible electrical damage.
