LG washer tCL / tcL Filter Reminder

tCL is a maintenance reminder, not a confirmed fault. LG documents the message as a prompt to clean the empty wash tub using the model-supported Tub Clean procedure.

  • Detergent residue, moisture, and routine washer use make periodic tub maintenance useful even though tCL itself does not prove contamination or a component fault.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm the model and reminder meaning

    • Photograph tCL / tcL and confirm the full washer model number.
    • Check the owner manual to verify that the message means Tub Clean on that model and to identify the exact cleaning cycle name.

  2. Run Tub Clean with an empty tub

    • Remove all laundry and visible foreign objects before starting the cleaning cycle.
    • Use only a washing-machine cleaner and amount allowed by the model documentation and the cleaner manufacturer. Do not improvise chemical mixtures.
