Possible causes

  • Laundry or another item is caught in the door opening.
  • The door is not fully closed or the latch is not securing normally.
  • The visible latch or door is damaged.
  • On some Samsung models, dC has a different meaning, so a model mismatch can lead to the wrong troubleshooting path.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the exact code and model

    • Photograph the display before clearing it and confirm every character, including spaces or leading numbers.
    • Use the exact model manual to verify that the displayed code belongs to the door-error family.

  2. Wait for movement to stop and inspect the opening

    • Use the normal controls to stop the washer and wait until the drum is fully stopped and the door releases normally.
    • Remove visible laundry or another item trapped between the door and opening. Do not force the door or latch.

  3. Close the door normally

    • Check that the visible latch is present and not obviously damaged, then close the door firmly without slamming it.
    • Restart only after the door closes and locks using the normal mechanism.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not bypass, tape, shim, or electrically defeat the door lock or latch.
  • Do not force a locked door open or reach into a moving drum.
  • Do not replace a lock, switch, control board, or wiring based on the code alone.

When to stop and request service

  • The exact model confirms a door error and the code returns after visible obstructions are removed and the door is closed normally.
  • The door, latch, or hinge is visibly damaged or will not secure normally.
  • The door remains locked unexpectedly, leaks, or would require panel removal or internal lock/wiring diagnosis.
