Possible causes

  • A visible or small water leak around the washer, hoses, dispenser, door area, or drain setup.
  • A kinked supply hose or drain hose.
  • Excessive suds from too much detergent or detergent that is not appropriate for the washer.
  • A persistent sensing or internal leak condition that requires professional service.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Protect the area and record the code

    • Photograph the display and confirm the full model number.
    • If water is near the plug, outlet, power cord, or another electrical source, do not step into the water or touch wet electrical equipment. Shut off power from a safe dry location if possible and request help.

  2. Look for visible leak evidence

    • Inspect the floor, visible supply connections, door or lid area, dispenser area, and accessible drain-hose path without removing panels or tipping the washer.
    • Stop use if water continues to appear or cannot be contained safely.

  3. Inspect the visible hoses

    • Check the supply hoses and drain hose for visible kinks, crushing, or obvious damage.
    • Do not remove the factory drain-hose holder or open internal hoses to investigate this code.

  4. Check for an oversudsing pattern

    • If there is no visible leak, Samsung recommends an empty cycle with no detergent or additives to see whether residual suds appear.
    • If suds are present, correct detergent type and amount according to the washer and detergent instructions before returning to normal use.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not continue running the washer when water is actively leaking into an electrical area or across the floor.
  • Do not remove panels, disturb internal hoses, bypass leak protection, or test a water-level sensor or wiring.
  • Do not treat 1E, LE, 1C, LC, or LC1 as proof that a specific sensor, valve, pump, or control has failed.

When to stop and request service

  • A leak is active, repeated, hidden inside the cabinet, or cannot be safely controlled.
  • The code returns after visible hose and detergent/suds checks are corrected.
  • Any sensor, internal hose, pump, wiring, or cabinet inspection would be required.
