Record the message and model
- Photograph or write down UE before restarting the washer.
- Confirm the exact model manual because GE says messages may vary.
Redistribute laundry safely
- Wait until the basket has stopped and the lid unlocks normally.
- Reposition laundry evenly in the basket without overloading it.
Confirm the washer is level
- Check that the washer is stable and level according to the owner or installation instructions.
- Run a model-supported Drain & Spin or Spin cycle if the load remains wet.
Actions not recommended
- Do not bypass the lid lock or reach into a moving basket.
- Do not remove panels or diagnose internal suspension, motor, or control parts.
- Do not force repeated spin attempts with an obviously unbalanced load.
When to stop and request service
- UE persists after redistributing normal loads and confirming the washer is level.
- The washer shakes violently, walks, or cannot complete supported spin cycles.
- The model manual does not support UE as an unbalanced-load message.
