LG Dryer E13 Error Code

LG associates E13 with a drain hose that is kinked, crushed, or clogged, or with frozen water in the sump. Owner checks should stay on the visible drain hose; sump access is not a homeowner troubleshooting step.

  • The visible drain hose is kinked, twisted, crushed, or clogged at an accessible point.
  • The drain hose has been extended in a way that increases resistance.
  • Water in the sump may be frozen in cold conditions.
  • An internal drain-system condition may require service.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm the model is a hybrid condensing dryer

    • Photograph E13 and record the complete model number.
    • Check the model manual or LG product support to confirm that E13 is defined for that dryer.

  2. Inspect the visible drain hose

    • Turn the dryer off before checking the accessible hose for kinks, twists, crushing, or an obvious blockage at the outlet.
    • Do not remove panels, reach into the sump, or disassemble the drain system.

  3. Check the installation against the manual

    • Confirm that the drain hose route and any extension match LG model-specific installation instructions.
    • After correcting only an accessible installation issue, press Start/Pause once to retry as LG directs.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not open the dryer to access the sump, pump, internal hoses, wiring, or sensors.
  • Do not use heat guns, open flames, boiling water, or other improvised methods to thaw internal water.
  • Do not assume E13 means the drain pump must be replaced.

When to stop and request service

  • E13 returns after accessible hose and installation checks.
  • The hose cannot be safely cleared or shows damage or leakage.
  • Frozen internal water, a pump concern, or any internal drain-system diagnosis is suspected.
