What the washer detected
Detected condition
Power to the washer was interrupted during a cycle.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- A power outage while a cycle was running.
- The washer power plug being removed while a cycle was running.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the code, model, and circumstances
- Photograph or write down PF and note whether a known outage or loss of power occurred during the cycle.
- Confirm the full model number because recovery behavior and controls can differ.
Understand the recovery message
- LG says the power-failure recovery system remembers and resumes the work the machine was doing before power was lost.
- A PF message following an interrupted cycle is not necessarily a product defect.
Perform the documented recovery reset
- Unplug the washer or switch off the circuit breaker that supplies power to it.
- While the washer is without power, press and hold Start/Pause for five seconds.
- Restore power and try to run a cycle once.
Actions not recommended
- Do not open an electrical panel, outlet, washer panel, or other electrical enclosure to investigate PF.
- Do not diagnose household wiring, voltage, the outlet, or utility power quality from PF alone.
- Do not treat PF as proof that the washer or a specific component is defective.
When to stop and request service
- PF persists after the documented power-recovery reset.
- PF recurs without a known interruption and needs assessment by an appropriate qualified professional.
- Any appliance or electrical-system inspection beyond the documented controls would be required.
