Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the code and model number
- Photograph or write down tE before disconnecting power.
- Confirm the full model number before using any model-dependent controls.
Perform the documented power reset
- Unplug the washer for 10 seconds, then reconnect it and turn it on.
Use only the documented drain controls
- If the model provides the documented option, use Spin Speed to select No Spin and allow the washer to drain.
- Once draining is complete, restart the washing cycle.
Actions not recommended
- Do not access, test, or replace the thermistor, heater, wiring, or other internal components.
- Do not remove panels or treat tE as proof that the thermistor has failed.
- Do not continue resetting or running the washer if tE returns.
When to stop and request service
- tE persists or returns after the documented power and drain sequence.
- The washer cannot be drained using the model-supported controls.
- Any internal temperature-sensing, heating, or electrical inspection would be required.
