Samsung Range C-24 / C24 Error Code

Samsung generally associates C-24 with a blocked or partially blocked vent at the back of the cooktop. Check only the external vent area and use the documented cooling steps; the message does not prove an internal sensor failure.

Applies to Samsung range or wall oven

What the appliance detected

Detected condition

The temperature sensor detected the oven temperature rising faster than normal.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • An item such as a pan covering or partially covering the vent at the back of the cooktop, on models with that documented vent arrangement.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code and exact model

    • Photograph or write down whether the display shows C-24 or C24.
    • Confirm the model number and owner manual before locating the documented vent.
  2. Check only the external vent area

    • If the exact model has the vent Samsung describes at the back of the cooktop, look for an external item such as a pan covering it and move that item away when it is safe to do so.
    • Do not insert anything into the vent or reach across hot cookware or cooking surfaces.
  3. Use Samsung documented cooling steps

    • If there is no smoke, burning smell, uncontrolled heat, or other hazard, Samsung says opening and closing the oven door a few times for about three seconds at a time can release warm air. Stand clear of hot air and steam.
    • Samsung also says the oven can be turned off and the door left open for one minute to let it cool. Keep people away from the open hot oven.
  4. Escalate once if the code returns

    • After the documented vent and cooling checks, use the Power button to turn the appliance off and back on once.
    • If C-24 returns, turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore it once. If the code returns again, stop and request service rather than repeating resets.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not remove panels, reach into the vent, access the temperature sensor, or test energized components.
  • Do not infer that the temperature sensor has failed or replace it based on C-24 alone.
  • Do not continue cooking if heat appears abnormal or uncontrolled, and do not repeat the reset sequence.

When to stop and request service

  • Request service if C-24 returns after the external vent check, cooling steps, Power-button restart, and one 30-second breaker interruption.
  • Stop if the vent arrangement does not match the exact manual or cannot be checked without approaching hot surfaces.
  • Seek urgent help for smoke, sparking, a burning smell, uncontrolled heating, visible wiring damage, repeated breaker trips, or abnormal heat.
