Samsung Range -dE- / -dC- / dE / dC Error Code

The dE or dC partition message applies only to supported Twin Mode ovens. Use the exact owner manual to confirm the partition position and cooking modes; do not apply this guide to an unrelated Samsung washer or oven model.

Applies to Samsung twin mode oven

What the appliance detected

Detected condition

On supported Samsung Twin Mode ovens, the partition is not installed or detected correctly.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • Cooking was started before the Twin Mode partition was inserted.
  • The supported partition is not pushed fully into its documented position.
  • Something is pressing against the partition switch at the back of the oven when the partition is not installed.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Confirm Twin Mode support and the exact display

    • Photograph or write down the message and confirm the oven model supports the documented Twin Mode partition.
    • Use the exact owner manual to confirm which cooking modes and partition positions that model supports.
  2. Cool the oven before touching the partition

    • Turn the oven off and wait until the cavity, racks, and partition are completely cool.
    • Do not reach near hot elements or surfaces merely to clear the message.
  3. Reinstall the supported partition as documented

    • If the partition is installed, remove and reinstall it according to the exact manual, pushing it fully into the documented position.
    • Samsung describes the third position from the top for supported electric and dual-fuel models and the fourth position for supported gas models; the exact model manual remains controlling.
  4. Make only a visible switch-area observation

    • If the partition is not installed and the oven is cool, look for a visible object pressing the partition switch at the back of the oven.
    • Do not remove covers, press or bypass the switch, or reach where the area is not safely accessible.
  5. Escalate once if the message returns

    • After the documented partition check, turn the appliance off and back on with the Power button once.
    • If the message returns, switch the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore it once. If it returns again, request service rather than repeating resets.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not use this guide unless the exact Samsung oven supports the relevant Twin Mode partition.
  • Do not bypass or press the partition switch, remove panels, test wiring, or replace a sensor or control.
  • Do not reach near heating elements or handle a hot partition.

When to stop and request service

  • Request service if the correct supported partition is fully installed but is not detected.
  • Request service if the switch area cannot be observed safely or the message returns after the single reset sequence.
  • Seek urgent help for smoke, sparking, a burning smell, uncontrolled heating, visible wiring damage, repeated breaker trips, or abnormal heat.
