What the appliance detected
Detected condition
The oven does not detect the door as closed.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- The oven door is not closing all the way.
- An accessible door plunger switch that is stiff or does not extend when the door is open.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the message and model
- Photograph or write down the door message and confirm the exact model number.
- Let the oven cool completely before inspecting the door area.
Check that the door closes normally
- Look for an external obstruction that prevents the door from closing all the way.
- Close the door normally without slamming, prying, or forcing it.
Observe only an accessible plunger switch
- If the exact model has the round black plunger switch Samsung describes and it is safely accessible with the oven cool, check that it extends when the door is open and moves freely with light finger pressure.
- If it is stiff, does not extend, or is not readily accessible, stop and request service.
Escalate once if the message remains
- Turn the appliance off and back on with the Power button once after the documented external checks.
- If door returns, turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds and restore it once. If the message returns again, request service rather than repeating resets.
Actions not recommended
- Do not force the door, bypass or hold down the switch, remove panels, or access the latch or lock mechanism.
- Do not test wiring or energized components.
- Do not replace a switch, latch, or control based on the message alone.
When to stop and request service
- Request service if the plunger switch does not extend or move freely, the door will not close normally, or the message continues when the door is closed.
- Request service if the message returns after the Power-button restart and one 30-second breaker interruption.
- Seek urgent help for smoke, sparking, a burning smell, uncontrolled heating, visible wiring damage, repeated breaker trips, or abnormal heat.
