LG Washer FE Error Code

FE identifies excess water in the washer. LG notes that the drain pump operates to help prevent leaks and that additional water may be entering through the detergent dispenser.

The washer detected a water-overfilling condition.

Possible causes

  • Additional water entering the drum, possibly through the detergent dispenser.

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code and model number

    • Photograph or write down FE and note whether water is entering or escaping from the washer.
    • Confirm the full model number before using any named program or model-specific control sequence.

  2. Check the dispenser from the outside

    • Without removing panels or reaching into the washer, observe whether extra water appears to be entering through the detergent dispenser.

  3. Perform the documented power reset when safe

    • If water is contained and the plug and surrounding area are dry, unplug the washer for 60 seconds, then reconnect it.
    • Do not touch the plug or operate the washer while standing in water or when the outlet area is wet.

  4. Confirm the documented drain action

    • Only if the model supports the named program and no water is escaping, start Quick 30 and confirm the program begins with a drain action.
    • If it does not begin by draining, stop the program and turn off the washer.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not continue running the washer if it is leaking or water is spreading beyond the appliance.
  • Do not remove panels, access internal water-level parts, or attempt to repair an inlet or drain component.
  • Do not treat FE as proof that a particular valve, sensor, or pump has failed.

When to stop and request service

  • FE persists after the documented external observation and reset checks.
  • The washer does not begin with the documented drain action on a model that supports that program.
  • Water continues entering, the washer leaks, or the plug or outlet area is wet.
