What the washer detected
Detected condition
The washer reported a possible leakage condition associated with its flood-prevention safety mechanism.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- Water leakage.
- A damaged inlet hose.
- A problem with the flood-prevention safety switch.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the code and model number
- Photograph or write down AE and note whether water is visibly escaping from the washer.
- Confirm the full model number so hose and service information can be matched to the exact washer.
Inspect only visible inlet-hose areas
- From outside the appliance, look for a visibly loose inlet-hose connection or a cut in the inlet hose.
- Do not move, tilt, or open the washer to look for an internal leak.
Use the documented reset only when the area is safe
- If there is no active leak and the plug and surrounding area are dry, unplug the washer and wait 60 seconds before restarting it once.
- If water is escaping or an electrical area is wet, do not attempt the reset; stop operation and request service.
Actions not recommended
- Do not remove panels, tilt the washer, or access internal hoses, wiring, or components.
- Do not bypass, test, or replace the flood-prevention safety switch.
- Do not treat AE as proof that a hose, switch, or another specific component has failed.
When to stop and request service
- Water is actively escaping or the source of leakage is not explained by a visible inlet-hose connection or cut.
- AE persists or returns after the documented reset.
- A hose is damaged, an electrical area is wet, or any internal inspection would be required.
