LG Washer IE Error Code

IE is a water-inlet condition. It points to an incomplete or delayed fill, so the household supply, faucets, and visible supply hoses are the appropriate places to begin.

The washer did not fill to an adequate water level within the expected time.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • An interruption to the household water supply.
  • A closed water-supply faucet.
  • A disconnected, pressed, bent, or frozen supply hose.
  • A restricted user-serviceable inlet filter.
  • A problem within the washer water-inlet system.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code and model number

    • Photograph or write down IE before restarting the washer.
    • Find the full model number so any later filter or hose procedure can be checked against the correct documentation.

  2. Confirm household water is available

    • Check whether the home water supply is currently interrupted before changing anything on the washer.

  3. Check the supply faucets

    • Confirm the washer supply faucets are open.
    • If a faucet is frozen, leaking, or difficult to operate, stop and address the supply problem safely rather than forcing it.

  4. Inspect the visible supply hoses

    • Look for a disconnected, pressed, bent, or visibly frozen hose without removing appliance panels.
    • Do not disconnect a hose while the faucet is open.

  5. Use only model-supported filter instructions

    • Before disconnecting a hose or inspecting a user-serviceable inlet filter, power off the washer and close the water faucet.
    • Continue only when the owner documentation supports access and explains how to reconnect the hose and filter correctly.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not treat IE as proof that the water-inlet valve needs replacement.
  • Do not disconnect a supply hose without first closing its faucet and powering off the washer.
  • Do not remove panels or attempt internal inlet-valve or electrical work.

When to stop and request service

  • IE persists after household supply, faucet, and visible hose checks.
  • A supported inlet-filter check does not resolve the condition.
  • A hose, faucet, or connection is damaged or leaking, or internal service would be required.
