What the appliance detected
Detected condition
Water is not draining at the correct speed or at all.
What may contribute
Possible causes
- A washer that is not level.
- A drain hose that is kinked, bent, damaged, or installed incorrectly.
- A clogged user-accessible pump filter on a front-load model equipped with one.
Start conservatively
Safe preliminary checks
Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.
Record the exact code, model, and washer configuration
- Photograph or write down the exact displayed code before disconnecting power.
- Confirm the full model number and whether the washer is a front-load or top-load model before considering filter instructions.
Check level and the visible drain hose
- Turn off the washer and confirm it is stable and level according to its installation instructions.
- Inspect the visible drain hose for a kink, bend, damage, or installation that differs from the exact model manual.
- Do not remove the screw or holder securing the drain hose to the washer.
Use pump-filter instructions only on supported front-load models
- Continue only if the exact model manual identifies a homeowner-accessible pump filter.
- Power off and unplug the washer first. If a hot cycle was recently used, allow the water to cool, and prepare for residual water as the manual directs.
- Do not apply front-load filter instructions to a top-load washer.
Test draining with a supported cycle
- After correcting a documented installation or filter issue, turn the washer on and start a cycle supported by the model manual.
- Samsung says the washer should drain at the beginning of the test cycle. If it does not, stop and request service.
Preserve diagnostic history
- Troubleshoot the drain condition before considering a power cycle.
- A reset can clear the displayed code without correcting drainage and can erase diagnostic history that may be useful to a technician. If the code returns, do not repeatedly reset it.
Actions not recommended
- Do not use front-load pump-filter steps on a top-load model or a washer whose manual does not support them.
- Do not remove panels or access an internal pump, wiring, or other internal components.
- Do not treat the code as proof that the drain pump or another component has failed.
When to stop and request service
- The washer does not drain at the beginning of the supported test cycle after the visible checks.
- The drain hose is damaged or cannot be installed as documented.
- The filter is not user-accessible, the washer cannot be drained safely, or internal inspection would be required.
