LG Dryer PS Error Code

PS points to a supply-voltage or power-cord installation context. The official page discusses terminal-block wiring, but that high-voltage work belongs with the installer or a licensed electrician, not a homeowner check.

Applies to LG electric dryer

What the appliance detected

Detected condition

The dryer detected improper voltage associated with the power cord.

What may contribute

Possible causes

  • Improper supply voltage.
  • Incorrect power-cord installation.
  • Reversed white and red connections at the dryer terminal block.
  • An appliance concern if a qualified professional confirms the installation and supply are correct but the dryer still does not heat.

Start conservatively

Safe preliminary checks

Work in order and stop whenever a step is not supported by the documentation for your model.

  1. Record the code, model, and installation context

    • Photograph or write down PS before resetting the breaker.
    • Confirm the model, rating plate, owner manual, and whether the dryer was recently installed or its cord was changed.
  2. Stop for electrical warning signs

    • Stop using the dryer for sparking, a burning odor, scorching, unusual heat at the plug or outlet, a loose outlet, visible cord damage, or another electrical warning sign.
    • Switch off the circuit from a safe location and contact a licensed electrician or the installer.
  3. Check only the external plug

    • Without opening or touching any electrical connection, confirm that an undamaged power cord is fully inserted into the grounded outlet specified by the dryer rating plate.
    • Do not remove a cover or attempt to verify terminal-block wiring yourself.
  4. Reset the breaker once and arrange qualified checks

    • Switch the dryer circuit breaker fully off for at least ten seconds, then restore it.
    • For a recent installation, have the installer check the power-cord installation and wall outlet. Have supplied voltage checked by a licensed electrician when needed.

Actions not recommended

  • Do not open the outlet, junction box, dryer panel, terminal block, or power-cord connection.
  • Do not test live voltage, continuity, resistance, or wiring, and do not reverse or reconnect terminal-block conductors yourself.
  • Do not repeatedly reset the breaker or treat PS as proof that an internal dryer component has failed.

When to stop and request service

  • Contact the installer for a newly installed dryer or recently changed cord, and use a licensed electrician for outlet, supply-voltage, or household-wiring checks.
  • Request appliance service if qualified checks confirm the installation and supply are correct but PS remains or the dryer still does not heat.
  • Stop immediately for sparking, burning odor, scorching, unusual heat, visible damage, or another electrical hazard.
